Just updated to iOS 9 GM from 8.4 and noticed Siri no longer beeps. Is this normal or a bugged installation?

Yeah they both are on iOS 9 GM. Both have a clean install.

That's incredibly strange! Maybe just a bug with the 6 Plus (that's what I'm using as well)?

I've reinstalled on my iPhone 6+ and did a clean install multiple times. It comes up the same everytime. So it might be a feature for some reason.

I couldn't see them making it work differently from one device to the next. This is really odd.

Are they both not on silent with volume turned up?

Full volume and not on silent. I checked quite a few times.

It's by design since early iOS 9 betas. While your phone is in hand and you activate Siri via the home button it doesn't ding, you get two quick taps instead (vibration.) The logical reason is to be less obtrusive while out in public and since it's in your hand anyways. The reason your iPad still dings is because iPads don't have vibration.

On the phone, Siri will still ding if you use "hey Siri" when it's plugged in or on car Bluetooth. Since it's probably not in hand in those situations and wouldn't feel the two quick taps.

This was done on purpose apparently. It happened in beta 2 I believe.

Side note since being in the car was mentioned, do you guys allow Siri from the lock screen? I leave this off so Siri and Hey Siri have been less useful when traveling.

Same case here. Ding on iPad Air, no ding on iPhone 6. There's just a small vibration when I enable Siri on my iPhone 6.

There's actually a new setting in Siri settings to have Siri reply with his/her voice depending on your mute switch as well as if you're on Bluetooth (as before). I don't know if this affects the Siri activation tone.
