Anybody else in the same boat? The battery life wasn't great to begin with, but iOS 9 has made it even worse. Currently I am running iOS ver 9.0.1 on the phone.

When did you purchase your iPhone 5? If it was between September 2012 and January 2013 it might qualify for the battery replacement program. There is also a general program for free battery replacement if your battery degrades more quickly than Apple expects. I just got mine replaced this week, and it's made a huge difference!

Thanks for point that out. I got a replacement phone last year actually under the same program. My iPhone 5 is actually only 11 months old. But battery life started to go bad a few months ago and iOS 9 just absolutely crushed it. I wonder if I got a refurbished phone with an older battery when I got my replacement?

I was under the impression that a refurbished iPhone was basically the old logic board and maybe the screen with a new battery and case. I could be wrong though.

If you have a Mac, you might download Coconut Battery. Plug in your iPhone via USB to your Mac and use Coconut Battery to check the cycles and such. You'll have to click on the tab for iOS Device since it will show your Mac's battery when it opens. I'm not sure if it works for PCs.

iOS 9 has great battery life for the most part. I haven't had any issues on my iPhone 5, 5s, 6+ and iPad mini. The iPhone 5s and 6+ seem to have improved battery life.
