iOS 9 notes app

When I had iOS 8.4.1 when I wrote a noted, I remember that wheel spininng (like saving) near the wifi bar. I noticed that doesn't happend on the iOS 9. Is that a normal thing or what? Is that noted stored to icloud then?

Notes used to be saved as part of an email account, which is why one used to be required to sync them. Now Notes sync through iCloud.

For Notes syncing prior to iOS 9 you had to sync through an email account, be it an iCloud one or other email account. It was required. Now notes can sync directly through iCloud.

And if you are gonna sync through iCloud, you might want to go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,calendars, select your Gmail account and make sure that notes isn't set to also sync with Gmail. If it is set to sync in two different places, it can cause headaches, unless you really understand what is happening.

If you want to sync through iCloud, make sure you open your notes app and select the iCloud account, and not "on this phone"

Notes are still associated with individual email accounts whether they are iCloud, Gmail, etc.. And they "sync" individually using the respective iCloud, Gmail, etc. services. You can turn Notes on/off for each account using System Preferences>Internet Accounts in OS X 10.11.1 and Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars in iOS 9.1.

FWIW I run a dozen different iCloud and Gmail email accounts combined. Notes are turned off, on most of them. But I sync different Notes on one of the Cloud accounts and 2 of the Gmail accounts (e.g. shopping lists on iCloud and observations, ideas, etc. on Gmail.)
