So I'm new to iOS, but will they release IOS 9 today or will it be another beta kinda thing ?
Yes, that is just a rumor but according to all September event, they have released it! I can't 100% tho..
Thanks, I hope they do. I took the day off to play around with it.
Next Wednesday for public, gold master today for devs.
Or you can simply download the GM today. Doesn't matter if you're a developer or not...
GM is the same Build with Final..it was like that on previous versions.. iOS 7 and iOS 8
I'm leaning to a 1 more thing that'll be in the gm. We will get that today with a possible revision next week before devices are shipped
If you're a beta tester since this is my first time in that category, if they do release GM today can that be downloaded OTA or do I need to plug into my computer for that?
Will have to be done on the computer. If you wait for the public release next week you can OTA from the public beta.
No more beta's. iOS 9 GM should be out today for registered developers and a public release next Wednesday.
Bodes the question, will Public Beta testers have to wait until next week or will we get GMed too?
I hope so, I'd quite like to use the Music App without it burning through 25% of battery in a hour.
I'm not good with the whole patience thing.
The old download it and use the shift key trick still works?
Highly doubt public beta users will get an OTA of the GM if regular developers aren't. You'll be able to find the GM online if you want it today.
Yeah. It's not a trick, it's an intended feature.
What time do they usually drop the GM after the events?
Usually a little bit after. No more than an hour after.
What time you can actually download it is another matter! Servers will be slammed.
Gm will be available as OTA for developers ?
Don't think so. Via iTunes only. Still, servers will have a tough time.
So if the beta testers get GM today as well all we do is just hook up our phones to our computers and connect to iTunes?
You'll need to download the GM from the dev portal. Note it's worth doing a restore with the GM as it'll flush out any bugs etc that could be left over from the beta's.
You'll need to acquire the GM software file and manually update / manually restore to it on iTunes. It won't show up automatically in iTunes for anyone until it's released to the public.
I don't do OTA updates anymore. I've been updating by downloading the firmware and ALT-clicking update.
With the GM, I'll do a DFU install of the GM firmware and a restore.
