The volume on my iPhone 6s running iOS 9.0.2 doesn't seem to be consistent. My ringers and text alerts come through at normal volume but other alerts come through so quiet I don't hear them. I use speaker phone for my conference calls every morning at work and sometimes I can hear it, and other times I can't. My husband sent me voice memos today and at max volume I still had to hold the speaker against my ear to hear them in my silent apartment.

I was starting to wonder if I got a bad phone, but my husband is reporting the same issues on his iPhone 6 (which is my old phone that he took over when I got the 6s) since upgrading it to iOS 9. In the year I had the 6, it NEVER had this issue so I'm curious if it may actually be software related.

Yes, I've checked that my volume setting are turned up, notifications are turned on, and that my mute switch isn't accidentally flipped. I have not tried a restore yet, since I set the 6s up as new when I got it.

Any ideas?

IOS 9 issue. Happens on mini 4 within apps and games. It's like if there is to many sounds being played from within the OS itself while other apps use sound, they are canceling each other out by screwing up the volume level. Maybe also due to this some sounds just do not play at all.

All my IOS 8 devices keep at the same volume and notification sounds are going off every hour at set volume level.

Mini 4 iPad missing a lot of sound events not playing at all or at high volume then drops low on its own.

Cannot believe Apple let this bug/glitch be released in IOS 9.

Report it through official channels to Apple, hopefully they fix it. It's annoying for sure!

I hope they fix it soon! It's super annoying. My text and phone ringers are now affected, which means I've missed important texts and calls from work/doctors offices :/ Here's to hoping they fix it SOON!

My 6+ had quiet, muffled alert tones and so did my 6S+....until I deleted my backup and set it up as a new phone. Now the alert tones are actually too loud even on lower volume settings. I preferred the muffle.:D

Ah, so I am not crazy. A few apps only though, I will keep a closer eye on this and see if I can narrow this down.

Move anything important to you to your computer. Make sure your syncing with iCloud such as contacts and calendars are turned on. Set the phone up as new and do not restore from backup. Your issue should be resolved

The problem I have is that I can be playing music or a video at a certain volume and then a notification comes through and there is the usual dip in audio but then the video/music comes back much louder than it was before, without the volume slider having moved. Really weird

Thanks. I been having issues with sound notifications for WhatsApp too. I'll try it to see how it works.

Thank you again.

Thanks for the responses. To those who said set it up as a new phone...I DID set it up as a new phone when I received it on launch day. It could not possibly be a problem with my backup, as this phone has never been restored from a backup. I do thank you for the input though. I'll try th other suggestion and keep my fingers crossed that it works! It's so random that it drives me crazy!

This?

1. Setting - General - Accessibility - VoiceOver - Disable Use Pitch Change

2. Setting - General - Accessibility - VoiceOver - Rotor - Check Volume

I tried this, and at first it didn't work. I did a "who's the boss" (hard reset) and it seems to be working now! Thank you! I hope it sticks!

Hey guys, I also noticed this issue on my phone as well. 6, 9.0.2. My ear speaker seems very low now even though the Volume is on max. I thought I was going deaf for a second. On speaker or ear piece the sound is perfect. Seems like only the ear speaker when I'm on the phone. Hoping this gets fixed soon

I tried multiple restarts and nothing worked.

After a "reset all settings" the problem seems fixed to me! I am not facing the speaker / sound issues anymore for the last 3 days.

I am running the latest iOS 9.1 on iPhone 6 Plus.

How is the volume of the keyboard clicks its also very very low

I just ran into my FaceTime audio not working right at all. It does it on my iPhone 6 plus and iPad Air 2. One issue is I try to adjust the volume, but the actual volume doesn't change. The volume pop up will be at its lowest, but the audio is still loud. Another issue is when I adjust the volume with the buttons, the audio stops for a second once I press the button. iOS 9 sucks.
