Does Apple take a 30% cut off all sales?
No. That is only for app sales including subscription or in-app purchases. There is no restriction nor tribute paid using a third party transaction engine with the interface coded into your application. You can make the app free and Apple only gets the annual developer subscription of $99 a year. The rest of the revenue is yours and the infrastructure of your management. It can even be AWS like several iOS apps uses already.

But what about Spotify? Don't they loose 30% on all subscriptions made inside the app?

They do indeed, which is why they charge the consumer 30% more in iOS.

If you wish to save 30%, just buy a Spotify subscription on their website. It's very silly of Apple to apply such a huge charge to subscriptions in the App Store.

As I said, they take 30% for a subscription if they use the In-App Purchase Apple SDK. I don't know if Spotify uses the Apple SDK or their own for subscription. If they work with a non-Apple purchase engine, you don't pay Apple a cut as you are managing the transaction instead of Apple.

Oh boy, I couldn't agree with you more.

What I would love is a way to hide all the apps I don't want to see in the App Store. I get so tired of seeing the same dumb apps in the top charts. I want to be able to hide most of them.

Agreed! As the creator of an app related to art, it's extremely frustrating to see the same old categories unchanging. Add "shopping", add "art", and add "no games".
