I remember news of Safari doing this recently and it was due to one of the advertisers in the advertising loop. I wonder if this is being caused by advertising being included in the app.

the app is free on the app store and it has advertisements. Which is pretty common.
But i never saw an app redirecting it to app store with out any clicks

If it's merely a web app, or an app that uses javascript, this could be exactly the case. In the Safari problem, the redirect disappears if you disable javascript.

Along with a fair bit of functionality of quite a few sites in Safari.

True, disabling javascript disables quite a bit on the web. My point was that the redirect happens in Safari simply by visiting a website, no other interaction required.

Yeah, Apple should have addressed that a long time ago.
