i want to modify an iOS firmware of iPhone(ipsw file) what are the procedures?

just trying to make some tweaks and modifications.. there is any documentation about this avaliable?

like making if faster,light and remove unwanted/useless features..
why is not possible?

You can't do any of that by editing the ipsw. You could just jailbreak, Cydia has all sorts of tweaks to do what you want. You can jailbreak if you're on 7.0.6 or lower.

how do i edit the ipsw?

At the iPhone hacks section.
You cannot do what you have in mind.
Only if you jb it you can edit and alter the way iOS works.
You can't take stuff out of the official .ipsw and then install a modified one with less things on it. Doesn't work like that with the iPhone.
