Hey all,

Im trying to figure why email notifications are not coming in properly.
So yesterday, I removed SparkMail from my iPhone and Mac and went stock. Mac works just fine, new emails are automatically pushed in to the app, and everything works as intended.

With my iPhone and wife's iPad however, there seems to be no notification, when email comes in, as in silence. I checked notification settings and everything is enabled. Permissions are given, but nothing on lock screen, no badge and nothing on my watch. It seemed that app isn't simply checking for new email, as I can hear a email arrival on Mac, but nothing happening on iPad and iPhone.
I started looking online, discovered that there is such a thing like push and fetch, and checked what I have.

I really don't understand how the email app works for iPad and iPhone, like Gmail doesn't even have push option. I don't understand the switch on the top and then individual account options later. I also don't understand on automatically, why does it only work when device is plugged in and on Wi-Fi.

Can anyone explain to me, how this app works or maybe a good alternative?
Why can't it just push emails when they are received on the server? I remember, when trying out the app for the first time, everything was flying in, no problem at all.

Download the gmail app. Gmail works with apple mail as fetch only. There are work around. I us Spark an it works fine with my gmail account.

Open Settings ➔ Mail ➔ Accounts ➔ Fetch New Data : Set Push to ON. Under the Fetch category choose a time interval of your choice from hourly to Every 15 minutes. Note that if you are using the Apple Mail app on your iPhone then GMAIL will not let you get Push Notifications.Nov 15, 2020

Thank you! :) I looked around and even on iOs and iPad OS, one can't set a default font and text size, text size appears so small. I don't even want to know, if people who receive an email from these clients, will be able to read it! :D

I might have to shop around for a cross platform client that is not SparkMail.
