My iPhone XS Max has started showing multiple iCloud tabs in Safari for each of my macOS devices. It used to only show one entry for each macOS device.

Is this something incorrectly set on my macOS devices, something set incorrectly on iPhone or is it a bug with iOS or macOS? Not sure what setting may be incorrect

iOS 13.5.1
macOS 10.15.5

Thank you in advance.

Do you have multiple windows open on your Mac or just multiple tabs?
Going to see if I can replicate this ...

Update:
I opened a Safari window on my MB with two tabs: AppleInsider and SAP Transaction Codes / Tables
I opened a second Safari window on my MB with one tab: Google Advanced Search

On my Pro Max I see one entry that is titled the name of my MB and three lines below it, one for each tab regardless of what window and I see entries for my IPP in a second section

No duplicates. All is consolidated under the device name.

Thanks for checking on this and posting your findings. I have no idea what I have set incorrectly. macOS or iOS configuration - something is not correct.

I have the same problem. My system version is the same as yours.

Every time I open Safari and then open tabs on my mac, it looks like a new device on my iPhone's safari.

In addition, I found that every time I log in to iCloud through Safari, I will be required to fill in two-factor authentication, although I already trust the browser. I tried Edge and Chrome on my Mac, and completely reinstalled my macOS, even upgrade to Big Sur, but nothing changed. Each login requires two-factor authentication. Maybe that why you have two iCloud tabs, because a reopened safari will be considered as a new device.

I have no idea how to fix it, maybe it's a bug.

Sorry your having the problem too.

I’m relieved to know that I am not alone with this issue. Perhaps others are having this issue and they haven’t recognized it yet. I am still researching and trying different things as I can.

Same issue happening here. I believe it began after 13.5.1, but I cannot be too sure. I didn't really notice it until about a week ago when I had 50 tabs from my iMac showing on my phone, even though there were no open tabs on my iMac.

Thanks for responding.

Still going on here too. I cannot think of anything else try try aside from wiping and reloading all of my devices. I’m not at the point of trying that yet especially with another iOS and macOS release coming soon.

That was exactly my thought as well. I'm going to wait for 13.6, and if that doesn't fix it, start doing some more in depth troubleshooting.

I have similar issue with my MBA. Have anyone found solution for this bug?

Still happening here too.
I am waiting until the next release of 13.6 and Catalina before I wipe my iPhone to test.

Issue still remains for me on 10.15.6 and iOS 13.6. Whats weird though its only tabs from one computer. No issues with my MacBook Pro, but only my iMac. Ive turned off Safari in iCloud settings on the iMac but that did not fix the issue after re-enabling.

I have the exact same issue and didn't find any solution.
I tried a clean install of my Mac and changed my Apple ID password and it didn't change anything.

I was getting ready to try this. Thanks for posting and letting us know.

first install mojave on your mac , install mojave updates , then upgrade to catalina 10.15.6 and icloud tabs will work correct !
no dubbel tabs !

This is what caused my issue. I restored my iMac as new about 4 weeks ago, went to Mojave, as I already had that downloaded. Installed it then upgraded to Catalina. Issue began. I have zero issues with my MacBook Pro.

I have this issue too. My Mac mini was listed several times with several tabs. I found that you can slide the tabs to the left and close them out manually. I did this from my iPad. So, got all the duplicates closed out. We’ll see if it stays correct.

I’ll report back my findings

I have don this several times , I mean clean install Mojave , then update to Catalina , when you do restore the problem will stay !!
Done it this way on MacPro 2013 , on iMac 2014 , on MacBook Pro ,
all those devices had the problem whit iCloud tabs, and now are running perfect !!

When you clean install Mojave , you do the updates for Mojave ,Safari 13.1.2, sign in with Apple ID, when you do the test then You will see that tabs work correct , then upgrade to Catalina and I will work !

Sounds painful to do but I'll try that! Thanks
Don’t bother. I already did it and that’s what caused this issue. I didn’t have this issue until I restore my iMac as new and downgraded from Catalina to Mojave, then upgraded back to Catalina. I explained above in post 19.

Having the exact same issue 10.15.6. The system was already on 10.15.6 and I added my account as a new user. I reckon apple is changing how iCloud tabs performs with Big Sur and that might have broken it for other Catalina. Who knows.
