Hi guys,

I’ve been running the betas since beta 1. Today Installed the RC on my girlfriends phone. There’s a few bugs I’ve found - surely there’s a way around it I havent tried?

1. She changes the background, and it reflects on my phone. If i change the background on mine, it doesnt reflect on her side.

2. If she creates a poll, its reflects correctly on mine. If I send one, it says “sent a poll” on her side, and doesnt have any options.

Why does her phone not receive the data?

Ive restarted her phone to no avail

I don't even get a 'backgrounds' option since the first beta and even now, the option simply doesn't exist anywhere I can look for it. I tap the icon of the person I'm messaging, I go to Settings-->Messages no option there either. None of my contacts use iMessage, but no mention on Apple's site or any reference sheet to supposed iOS26-features lists. They just mention it's a feature but do NOT make mention it's exclusive to iMessage, but since I have zero contacts that use iMessage, I cannot test to see if that's true or not. I really wanted to have wallpapers in my threads--been a thing since my Galaxy SII and SIII, and it's greatly missed today (went away with the whole flat design/DeskMate Nostalgia trend)

mmmmm thats weird.. seems like they have some issues with that feature for some reason.

This is what it should look like when you click on the iMessage contact IMG_0404.png

Yep, I got all the options EXCEPT the 'backgrounds' feature. All the info I've read (including on Apple's site for iOS 26 by following 'learn more' in the software update section) mentions 'messages backgrounds' as a feature, but there ain't no asterisk suggesting that it only works for iMessage users. I have zero iMessage contacts (my mom uses iMessage but has moved to FB Messsenger as her primary messaging app and most folks use WhatsApp today, and my girlfriend uses Android so it's defaulting to SMS anyway) so I cannot even test to see if it is ONLY for iMessage users, and can't even begin to fathom why that'd be the case, given it's just a wallpaper feature that shouldn't depend on iMessage at all.

I guess I'm lucky; I'm one of those old folks who's only use for a smartphone (going back to 2010 when I got handed a 3GS) has been a camera, MP3 Player, notepad, and regular phone. SMS is the most used app mainly to keep in touch with my girl who lives in NC (I live in KY) and the second most used is Music. I just can't get used to an 'app-controlled modern life' and prefer living like it's the 1970s (including driving a Malaise-era car). Heck, often I just have my HTC Thunderbolt with me (damned thing still works thanks Straight Talk!). So in reality the feature would just be great eye candy but not entirely essential, but still, I have missed it since the SIII. I loved having a nature background (often a forest meadow that contrasted well against those old glossy bubbles). Black is what it's like now, and that's rather bland.
