Hey all,

I was messing around with folders since I wanted to organize the many, many games that I have on my iPhone 3GS. I was trying to figure out a way to organize them based on the type of game it is. This is what I found:

Some apps are the same type and when I put two Arcade apps on top if each other, it creates a folder called "Arcade." The problem is that most of the time when I put two apps on top of each other that I think are similar (for example... words with friends and scrabble), the folder is automatically named "Games" instead of a more descriptive name.

Anyway to tell which apps are labeled as which type without having to constantly try putting two apps into folders all the time? It's quite time consuming.

Thanks,
Kyle

You can rename it to whatever you like. Just click on the box with the name of the folder and you can type in whatever you want.

I understand that. I've been doing that for utilities and such... but I was just wondering how you can see what an app is labeled as without looking for it in the app store or dragging apps on top of each other.

And I lied about Scrabble and Words... they make a folder called "Board Games" which I thought Monopoly would fit in that category, but my phone doesn't see Monopoly as a board game for some reason. I'm a little bit of a neat freak and I can't seem to get my games organized the way I like it.... thought maybe Apple would help by say... automatically putting all "Board Game" apps into a folder. It's probably too much to ask for.

Yea it is a hit and miss. Apple did say they take whatever category it was on the App Store. But not sure if that is totally true for all apps or just 'most'

So I guess it is a trial and error for now until you find something you like. I too am still constantly arranging my apps, creating and deleting folders, and renaming folders, and I've been using iOS4 for many days now!

It's not in the info section of itunes. I believe its what its sorted on the app store.

I guess I'll have to deal with what is given to me. At least I found an efficient way of organizing apps into folders...

If anyone is interested, I put two apps that I think should go together (Scrabble and Words) then put that folder into my dock. Then I went to each page looking for word games and just grabbed them to drop them into the folder on the dock. Might have been common sense to do so to begin with, but thought I'd share.
