iOS5 and battery life

I'm totally happy with my battery life now i turned off the auto-time features ... lost 5% battery while on 8 hours standby which, considering i have much more backgrounded notifications etc, is on par with my iOS4 iPhone4

Turn off the time/date setting and most of the system level location services and my battery is fine.
 
If rumors in the hack forum are true, which are basically jailbreakers are waiting for Apple to release an update, before they release their JB, then its bad for jailbreakers. Which means a JB will either take even longer to come, or the JB will only work for the battery sucking iOS 5 version.

Am I right in thinking that, or totally misunderstood that?
