I'm considering an iPad for a family member as a gift.

I was going to buy myself an iPad2, even though the iPad1 is fine, so I could then give my current iPad1 to them as a gift.

However I will admit, the whole Backlight Bleeding issue has really put me off buying one, and, as I say, the iPad1 does do everything I want.

I am considering perhaps buying a second hand iPad1 for them instead, which would be cheaper than buying myself an iPad2.

But thinking to the end of this year and iOS5.
I love new features and I would like to upgrade to iOS5 when it's released to the public, but I'm wondering, if it puts even more loading onto iPad1.

My current iPad1 with iOS4.2 or 4.3, whatever it is, is not quite as snappy as when I first had it. Like when going to the store and the password box coming up, I can type my password in before it starts to register the keypresses.
Not bad, but it's definatly not as quick as on day one.

I'm worried that iOS5 will make iPad1's even more laggy, in which case perhaps an iPad2 would be better.

So I'm wondering how people with iPad1 models are finding the performance with the new OS ?
