have you tried these?: Another couple options: "increase contrast" or "Invert Colors" but I think that one's for the color blind.

I also would like to see Apple making a manual on/off "night mode" option, I think this would be nice at night instead of having to change brightness, and it would make it easier for someone like you to read. If you use turn by turn navigation in Maps, it will go into night mode edit: it's an automatic thing that happens at night (I think it gets the sunset time from weather). ...BTW, If you go to safari, turn on private browsing, it also turns the white to dark grey.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate you trying to help.
I'm fully aware of the accessibility options thank you and have tried them all, but they all have 'side effects', so don't help much.
For me, the keyboard that pops up when you do a search in spotlight is MUCH easier to read than the standard one you get when composing SMS messages, typing in Safari etc etc (sigh).
It really is a deal breaker for me unfortunately, so I'll just stick with IOS6 until it gets so left behind I have to change.
Maybe by then Apple will have added some options to IOS 7 to make it easier to read.
I hope so, as I loved using my iPhone and would hate to have to change over something so easily rectified! :)

yes, I do both. point? your analogy makes no sense.

AFAIK Ive became famous due to his hardware design. This is the first time he is doing software design in a product. It's like telling a civil engineer to make a car (even though a mechanical engineer is different type of engineer) because his buildings are beautiful or something like that. In other words he might create something pretty, but it might turn out impractical.

I'm a mechanical engineer, and that analogy makes perfect sense to me.

Too bad it's impossible to make a UI with a choice of themes, you could choose a theme with button outlines, darker backgrounds, text size, you could even mix and match to your own preference.... but I'm just dreaming, this kind of advance technology is YEARS away.:D

My beef with the text in iOS7 is on the homescreen. In iOS6 and prior, the text was outlined in black, or it had a shadow; not sure exactly, but it made the text standout more, and be more readable regardless of the background. Now, the text is just plain white (or just plain black in some situations), and it very often clashes with the background.

Settings --> General --> Text Size: Turn up
Settings --> General --> Accessibility --> "Larger Type": Turn on
Settings --> General --> Accessibility --> "Bold Text": Turn on

Changing those settings does not effect certain things like popup notifications and the title bar. On my iPhone 4s and my iPad 3 it is noticeable smaller and thinner, but not horrible. On my iPad mini I really can feel the increased eye strain. Just looking at the battery percentage and time is frustrating. Partially because it is even smaller and partially because it is not Retina.

It was change for change sake.. Alot of people here and the so called analyists called 6 and lower "stale looking" and boring, so.. they change it.

now people are whining they don't like change.

sigh.

100% agree

I am 44 years old , do not use glasses , doctor said I do not need by the moment , and I found ios 6 much better and easier to read than ios7
Keyboard lacks contrast , do not like pictures with white background , they placed white background everywhere ...
Also liked much more the design of address book and calendar in ios 6 , much more stylish and easier to read ... Same with emails :(
On the other hand my daughter who is 21 is delighted , so maybe apple has decided doing things oriented to young people ?
I would like an option with the classic design for calendar and address book and email . Keyboard like in spotlight , that is easier to see , and background in photos grey as was before ...
Why destroy all Steve jobs had done ?
We miss you Steve , you thought of those who are not 20 year olds
Apple people please listen or you will loose lots of until now loyal customers ...

I'm legally not allowed to drive a car, my vision is so poor, andi have no issue.

I suggest working with it. Having it for a few hours and coming up with a big declaration about it isn't fair.

Yep, not impressed by these changes. I've played around with the settings, nothing really as good as it was before in terms of readability. Most jarring was I had to change my homescreen background which had a lot of white before because I couldn't read the text for the app/folder names now. A lot of these "style" changes just seem like change for change's sake. Not something Apple is known for doing much.

Completely agree. The choices of colors is absolutely horrible. The design of the UI doesn't help a user focus on relevant aspects.

-All this white text on bright backgrounds.
-The white keyboard keys on a bright background.

Everything just feels cluttered. And don't get me started on the terrible animation speeds. The phone feels like a chore to use more than ever.

My vision is perfect btw.

I have no problems so far with ios7 except for the text keyboard...an almost white background with white buttons is not a very good design...it's not the letters, it's the actual buttons themselves that are bad

Cool i never knew about this. Thanks for the information above. My text seems better for my liking. I have the text size to the lowest and larger type off and have it set as bold on. Its looking good now.
