Am i the only one annoyed by its removal?
Im an android user that just bought an iphone 5s (will arrive on oct). Ive tried ios 7 on my dad's iphone and the biggest drawback i found was that there was NO WEB SEARCH FROM HOMESCREEN.

This was included in ios 6, its included in Android, its basic functionality.

please write a response to apple about this

This is such a ridiculous thing not to include. iOS 7 made up for most of the jailbreak tweaks I used to have, but to not have a readily accessible web search box (not in the safari app) is really behind the times.

Submitted feedback.
I really don't care too much about the little things. But this really makes a smartphone useful to me.

I just noticed the 7 spotlight search was phone contents only. I rarely use that feature other to find apps. That sucks though.

From a usability stand point the spotlight search would still take you to Safari so why even start from there?

secondly, it does say "search iPhone" which implies results on the device.

Alternately,

You can download the google search app,

Launch Siri and say "google search <your term here>"

or Just plain open safari and search

I think this thread might have been started because people are a little disappointed that Web Search has been removed from Spotlight, not because they didnt know how to do a web search without Spotlight.

I'm aware. I just think it wasn't optimal to even have it in spotlight to begin with.

Hmmm. Good point. The truth is I'm missing the Cydia tweak that put a google search box in notification center. I use Spotlight on the iPhone about twice per year at most. But would be nice if there were a way of searching the web without opening an app or using Siri. On my iPhone 4 opening Safari takes a little time.

I never even knew that it was possible to search the web from spotlight on iOS6. Ah well :)

I have no problems using safari.

I guess I wasted all that time using something that wasn't really useful at all. # Saved a step when searching so I'm hopeful they bring it back but realize it's just a phone and I won't lose a wink of sleep if they don't!
