Ok, as I've tried to call apple (which, being that i work in a call center for the largest cable provider in the USA) the wait time is horrendous. I waited once for 35 minutes, no rep, hung up. This time only 25, no rep, hung up. I'm debating if i should just take this in.

Maybe someone can help, maybe not, or at least provide guidance.

    Issues:

    - Phone randomly locks up, and must be powered off/back on (multiple times daily)
    - After getting off a call, intermittently the phone will shut off and will not turn on unless i hold power/home button (multiple times daily)
    - battery life is horrendous with no wifi, no push, simply text messaging and the random phone call or two. i must charge it 2-3 times a day to retain a charge.
    - while on a call, speakerphone button will not activate.
    - randomly, the home screen icons are not able to be pressed and things wont open.

    What I've done:

    - Was on the v5 firmware (firmware ending in 5) backed up data, re-installed 2.0 to v7 firmware.
    - Power cycle daily when no problems are present
    - Removed all apps - power cycled phone - problems still present

it looks like its a defective phone. any insight?

I would call and make an appoinment at apple right away. They should give you a replacement.
