My laptop was stolen last week (I just received my new one not too long ago). I have the IP address of my stolen one...is there any way I can somehow trace it to where my old laptop is? Or do anything to get any information?

The ip is not like a VIN number, it's just an address. When it was at your home it used your address, wherever it is now it's using a new address.

If you have the serial number you could report it to the appropriate authorities but I highly doubt it will come up ever again.

ip addresses cant help but if you had the mac address, you could prolly track it down

How?????????

The MAC address is only known on the local physical net. So, unless you can get on the same physical network as the laptop, you are out of luck.
