Since updating to 26.4, the MagSafe Battery Pack no longer respects the 90% charge limit and now goes all the way up to 100%.

According to Apple’s specifications, the Battery Pack should not charge past 90%, but there seems to be a bug causing it to keep charging indefinitely.

I updated to firmware version 26.4.1, but nothing has changed.

The Battery Pack firmware version is 101.0.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Can you link where you're seeing it "Should not" charge past 90%? I'm looking at article 124952 which says "you might" get a notification.... which is entirely different from "Should not"

I have an Apple Air MagSafe Battery pack. Noticed this as well. It ignores my charge limit and charges the phone up to 100%.

<Raises hand> - yep, I have this problem too. Not alone 😀

It did not do this before 26.4.

(I had an iPhone Air, returned it for a Pro Max, kept the Air MagSafe Battery - cuz I like batteries, I use it with my Pro Max now and then (sideways)).

I set my iPhone's max charge to 80%. Up till now the Air MagSafe Battery respected that charge limit. Since iOS 26.4 - it has not been respecting this charge limit and will charge my phone to 100% every time (when attached to my phone). Yep yep.

I think 26.4.1 fixed it.... It's been sitting at 80% for awhile now. It did not do this yesterday.

EDIT: Nope, 81%. It is not fixed.

Hey @BigMcGuire 💪
Hi, nice to reconnect with you on this thread 🙂

I hope you found a sublime display on the new iPhone Pro Max. For the first time ever, I got an Air with a stunning LG panel.

It’s a shame that 26.4 introduced this battery bug. I tested the same battery on an iPhone 16 Plus, and it stops at 90% as expected.

What I don’t understand is why only some users on the iPhone 17 series are experiencing this bug.

I keep my Air MagSafe battery extender at work, I started getting affected by this bug just before I left for paternity leave. Was really hoping 26.4.1 fixed it so I’d be good when I return to work this week. Ugh.

I confirm that with iOS 26.4.1 the bug is still present. I also tried resetting the settings: once the battery pack is attached, the warning popup about the 90% limit appears again, but it still keeps charging all the way to 100%.

I’ve reported the bug to Apple for the second time.

I’m really pissed off.

I don’t understand why two friends of mine with an iPhone Air running 26.4 don’t have this issue.

i don't even set a charge limit and never have on any iphone never had any issues with battery health dropping fast

Have you read the thread? We’re not talking about battery health, but about a different kind of bug.

In the changelogs for iOS 26.5 beta 1, beta 2, and beta 3, nothing is mentioned about this annoying issue. Does anyone have any updates on it?

Yeah I loved slapping this on my 17 Pro Max - makes it easier to hold when at home - and it held my phone at 80% (where I have charge limit set).

Ever since this "bug" - yeah, I don't use it cuz it charges my phone to 100%.

Still, absolutely AMAZED that the pack barely gets warm doing this. What an amazing battery lol. (Reason why I kept it even though I returned my Air and went PM).
