So anybody knows if it backup and restores faster? Mine takes just as long as my iP14PM to backup and restore from itunes in a PC. I'm using a Thunderbolt 4 cable rated at 40Gbps just to make sure.

Are you using the cable with a pc or Mac? I didn’t realize the Thunderbolt cable wouldn’t work with high speed usb c ports on pc. I couldn’t even get mine to sync properly. A usb c 3.0 cable for me on the other hand offered nothing of bragging rights vs lightning port transfer.
If you’re on a Mac, I don’t have any input or advice.

Looking to hear feedback on this also. I did a restore from computer thinking it would be much faster but it took just as long. I also did a transfer direct from iPhone to compare and it was faster than the restore from Mac.

I purchased a thunderbolt 4 cable in anticipation of the usb data transfer speeds and was hoping backups would be faster

No difference at all, I used a thunderbolt USB-C cable and the restore took 4+ hours from my MacBook. Very disappointed that there was no improvement regardless of USB3..

Possibly it’s just a software limitation then of how iOS handles backing up and restoring via hard drive, and apple can update to take advantage of the 10gbps speeds

The speed issues are probably due to iOS backups containing many small files, my iPhone one is 61Gb but has over 42,000 files.
