IP4s wireless can't stay connected?

wherever I go and my wireless is connected anywhere if the phone isn't in use the wireless disconnect itself, once I press the power button and the screen is back on the wireless comes right back on?

I have no data plan how do I make the IPhone stay connected because I lose viber, whatsapp.....etc when it's disconnected ?

You cant.
Phone automaticly turns off wifi when phone is locked to save battery.
Plug it in to an outlet and maybe it will stay connected to wifi while charging.

Only thing I can think of is to jail break. I have seen some Cydia apps that are supposed to do this.
