iPad 1 DEAD

so, I have a first gen iPad that wont turn on at all - left on charge all night - totally dead? if so, what would I do with it? Recycle?

Do a hard reset. Press home and power for 5 sec, and continue to hold home for 10.

I had to do this on my phone recently. Was just black plugged in to known power brick and car.
