iPad iPad 1 Native YouTube App returning "Authentication Failed" constantly.

I am trying to login to my iPad 1's native YouTube App to make use of the "subscriptions" page but every time I try to login I get the "Authentication Failed" message.

I am using my full gmail address ie. name@gmail.com as the username.

I've googled this issue and tried everything I found including turning wifi/airplane mode off then on, restarting the app and ipad, as well as making sure my google's 2-step verification status is OFF.

Anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it?

It's something to do with the email system
The app is fine
But the email thing
I think you should make another youtube account and log in with it
