Surely people know whether they want an iPad (with iPadOS) or a laptoop (with MacOS) for themselves or their kids? An iPad with 256 GB storage + folio keyboard costs more than a Neo anyway, so Apple would probably rather sell this combination!
I said split the focus not the sales. You're right, I don't think that they would be in direct competition, but they probably want to give the Neo its own time in the limelight.

What current new release phone doesn’t have it?
Oh, I’m not saying you’ll be able to find something that has the features you want while not having the features you don’t want. Sometimes the right choice when you REALLY don’t want something is simply not buying.

Yesterday I learned that iPad 11 is driven by an "A16" with one efficency core less, so 5 cores in total.
And I think its rather disturbing Apple marketing this iPad with an A16 processor and not communicating this limitation. Yeah not much difference performance wise, but this is imho not ok.
They limitation is clearly communicated for anyone interested in knowing about it (and for anyone that even doesn’t want to know, they kinda throw it out there).
I can imagine that, on the iPad 11 page, there might be some folks that don’t understand that “Tech Specs” stand for “Technical Specifications” and may avoid that link because they don’t need any high tech glasses, they’re just looking for iPad information, thanks! But that can’t be TOO many people, can it?

You are all right, its in the specs, however different number of CPU cores is something else than GPU cores. And identical naming "A16" for different number of CPU cores might be a bit misleading. I would expect A16SE or something.

I would guess the next ipad would come with A18 and not A19 but personally I don’t care either way as both have 8 GB RAM, and that’s as much RAM as my M4 iPad Pro. It will not get either A18 Pro or A19 Pro.

My kids are both on the iPad Air 2 with A8X and 2 GB RAM, so the 12th gen iPad would be a huge upgrade.
Indeed. M4 iPad Pro having less ram than iPad Air M4 is strange. I went for 1TB version of iPad Pro M4 to have 16 GB, however I doubt the 16GB will give me longer iPadOS support than M4 with 8 GB.

And I also have a family member using iPad Air 2 from 2014, so same story, waiting for base iPad 12 to replace the 12 years old iPad Air 2 with iOS 15 and poor battery.

If it is not released by June, education customers will likely be stuck buying the 11th Gen for the next school year in the US. I'm not sure that's a good thing for Apple, assuming the profit margin on the new model will be the same. It will delay adoption of Apple Intelligence by students, which Apple is keen on.
I hope the 12th Gen stays at $349.
Good point. Indeed, for the school year, September/October release is too late..

This is pretty normal.
The A16 in the iPad 11 is the first Apple Silicon CPU chip to have at least a core less compared to pretty much all the A/M series chips which never experienced something like this so it’s definitely not normal

No, they do it all the time. They started with the A5 in the Apple TV I think. One CPU core less.

It’s normal. They’re just not great at making it clear, historically.

I am really hanging out for this next model. Presently I have an iPad Gen 6 32GB. It is now very slow and sometimes freezes. The touch screen is not so touch anymore. And of course it does not iOS update anymore.
Preferable they release it in early July (New Zealand) as I go overseas (Bali) late that month for a month, and it would be nice to get one duty free.
