if you are on my situation, are you going to bite this? it was sealed and the guy just want to sell it for $600 $60 benefit on 8% tax

Unless you really NEED it right now, just be patient. You lived all these years without an iPad 2, a few days won't kill you.

Do you need the iPad for some kind of mission critical task that your job or life depends on? If no, just wait.

It's 60 freaking dollars. Go for it.

Agreed. It's a toy basically. No reason to pay more just to get it sooner IMO.

You can either look at it as a toy, or as a "Mac OS X Embedded" system. Honestly, anything that can contribute or connect to the internet is not a toy.

Anyway, I would not pay extra for it. I would relax and order it online and let it come to you. At least then you won't be on a wild goose chase.

60 bucks could be a lot of apps though.

Yes, for children it is a toy, but for us adults that know how to use the device, well that's a different story.

OP, it's up to you whether or not to pay the extra $60. I have a first gen, so I am not that compelled to get a gen 2.

My point it it's not a necessity so it's silly to pay extra to get something like that sooner.

But hey, most people have more money than they do common sense!

I consider it a toy as it's mostly useless for work for me, but I love playing on it--net surfing, videos, games, reading the news etc. :D

seriously? a mac osx embedded system? HAAHA

Its a toy no matter what it is embedded with... if you use it for work, its a toy that you have embedded some work apps on.

absolutely. Considering the current supply, and how badly I want it, I would be willing to pay the extra $60.

Wait, use the 60 bucks for something useful. paying a reseller, to hog up ipads when they are released to make money off consumers, just promotes the behavior. Order one and wait. it is not THAT much better than a regular ipad, and paying extra money to someone who is hoping to score money from people who "cant" wait a few weeks is not worth it. IMO of course...

+1 on that!

So then I guess everything is a toy then? I have embedded "work apps" on my laptop so it must be a toy.

My car must also be a toy since I have two feet to walk on.

For most people iPad could be considered a toy, but if it increases your productivity then it becomes a tool just like a car or a laptop.

If the alternative is that you spend time driving around, checking stores, spending time in line, even taking a 1/2 day off to get to the store early, etc. then yeah, pay the extra $60 and be done with it. If you're willing to be more patient about it then the $60 is just a waste and you should just put in your online order and wait it out.

$60 = 6 movies @ 2 hrs a piece = 12 hours of entertainment.

I paid an extra $60 as well. I will have spent 12+ hours on this thing by the time I'd be able to walk in and get one due to my work and college schedule. I have no regrets. It's just $60. If you don't jump on it, someone else will.

the ipad is hardly a car... all the exec's at work absolutely had to have an ipad. i never knew weight tracking, angry birds, etc apps could increase productivity so much!

maybe you're the exception, but i'd be willing to bet that productivity doesnt increase for 99% of ipad purchasers.
