Ipad 2 3G locked or unlocked

I was looking at the Apple site and it says it is pre-configured to work only with 1 carrier. What if you travel or live overseas and need to use 3G overseas with various different carriers

Anyone here able to confirm if they bought one from the US and are able to use 3G in any Asian country?

I am not in possession of an iPad 2 but I believe the AT&T iPad will be unlocked.

Have you tried any 3G SIM cards from any foreign countries. Apple says it is configured to work with 1 carrier.

Meaning you can't buy an AT&T one and expect it to work on a CDMA network. But it would overseas on another micro-sim or GSM network.

If you're here in the states you'll need to choose: micro-sim or verizon. Thats what the "one carrier" means.
