Hey guys, I'm looking for a iPad 2 back case to compliment my smart cover.

I want one that holds the smart cover securely in place.
Allows me to connect the camera connection kit or the hdmi adaptor without issues.
Doesnt add much bulk.

I was looking into the Macally SmartMate, but then i saw a review saying that the camera connection kit didnt fit in it.

I use this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/231590023/Product.aspx

It's nice and solid, fits really well and also has a magnet on the back so that the smart cover sticks to it when you fold it back. I never usually drop things, but I dropped my iPad by accident on a stone floor and this thing saved it. Not even a scratch.

The only thing I can't comment on is using it with the camera connector. I highly doubt it will be an issue but I can check for size when I get home.

I use the "very" low cost silicone back from iTalk (look on Amazon) - works great for me in all the aspects you mention.

I've been using the Caudabe Shell for a while and it's held up great. http://www.caudabe.com/collections/ipad-accessories/products/ipad23-shell-frost

I got it in frost which I think looks the best and has a matte finish that sort of has a premium feel to it. Good product, if just a little bit pricy

Both of these look nice, but the speck one also has a complaint in a amazon review (http://www.amazon.com/review/R1DJT0...IN=B004X6B1Q4&nodeID=172282&store=electronics) about the camera connection kit and the caudabe shell dock cut-out seems to be the same thing.

I couldnt find this "iTalk" case youre talking about, could you send me a link?

I don't have the camera connection kit, so can't help you there. But just from the pictures, it seems like the hole for the port on my Caudabe cover is a little bit bigger than on the Speck cover. Maybe it'll work.

Yup, that's exactly what I got as well. Worked really well so far. I'm thinking about picking up a black smart cover and getting the black Caudabe shell to go with it.
