then why did we buy one?!?!?! :(

If you already have an original iPad, I have no idea. Gadget lust? Latest-tech-product fever?

No, it won't UL photos to FB from Safari, either.

Anyway, just DL the FB iPhone app and it'll do direct uploads from your iPad photo library. Not seamless, but really just shy of it, since iPads are mostly about using several small apps in concert to get things done, not one huge all-featured app.

Why should iOS accommodate Facebook? Facebook Smacebook. When it goes the way of myspace there will be something else. iOS is an operating system not some fly by night web app.

I don't think FB will go the way of Myspace any time soon, but having deactivated my FB account a month ago, I'm getting three or four times the work done. It's kind of like banning the watching of soap operas when I should be working. I think FB will begin at a greater rate to lose people who find the service too much of a distraction from other things, but it will survive well for at least another several years, and perhaps longer.

While I think that Apple's hardware is second to none, their software prevents the iPad from being near what it COULD be! I hate my iPad being so dependent on iTunes!

That's interesting. Apple products are really more about the software than the hardware. It's the hardware you hold and that catches your eye, but ease of use and efficiency is almost all due to software.

The problem here is not whether Apple should plan its OS around Facebook by adding Facebook/Dropbox/whatever upload features.

The problem is that the iOS has no user-accessible file manager so when you go to a website that lets you upload a file and you click on BROWSE, nothing happens.

THAT is what should be addressed by Apple instead of adding site-specific features to the OS.

Question about pictures

Is it possible, from an iPad or iPhone, to post pictures to this forum? I do not know how, and if it can't be done, that pitiful!

What about provide FB login and password to all these 3rd party apps?

Don't you have any problems by provide FB login and password to all these 3rd party apps?

Facebook has an email connected to your profile, you just email that address and it uploads the pic and your status is whatever you write in the subject line. You can find out the address but trying to change your profile pic I believe it will show it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Even Facebook's own iPad app doesn't have this capability. Facebook is just all together pathetic...which is why I don't use it!
