iPad 2 on Saturday?

Hi guys, a buddy and I are driving from Canada (Vancouver) to the US (Seattle) either late friday night or early sat morning. Any advice on where we should go or are we wasting our time because stores won't have restocked by saturday?
 
I seem to remember reading something yesterday or today that Apple stores will sell out Friday and restock Saturday.
