I see lots of people 100% sure they know if there will be a resolution bump or not. Some say they know the exact resolution. Place your final predictions here.

Two Rules.

1. You can not edit your post, at any time. If you do all credibility will be lost. Get it right the first time.

2. Post Yes, or No depending on if you think there will be a res bump.

- If you're feeling like a fortune teller, guess the exact resolution.

Sure about your prediction? Here's your chance to set it in.

1024x768 for iPad 2 and 3.
2048x1536 for iPad 4.
2048x1536 no-glasses 3D display for iPad 5 or 6. [It'll also have air gestures, pressure sensor, temperature sensor, heartbeat sensor, fingerprint scanner]
2048x1536 no-glasses 3D display with "e-ink changer" for iPad 5 or 6.
4096x2072 no-glasses 3D display with "e-ink changer," OLED, IPS, super-bright for iPad 7.

If I'm right can I have an iPad 7, for free.

But, IAS, I don't think that the next iPad will have a slight bump or a "retina" display, but a "improved screen"; the iPad 3 may have a better display technology, but I don't think, it'll have a "retina dispay." By the time iPad 4 is released, the A20 will be out, and along with a mobile GPU comparable to the 320m, but with the same heat consumption and power consumption of the current GPU.

It's either
2048x1536, or 1024x768, not a small bump as the apps will have to be run in a window - black borders.

It's not really that tough to think what apple is going to do...
Apple doesn't care what Motorola Xoom resolution is. Retina display on iPad is not happening in hell. They might try to implement the new screen technology to offer better experience, but the resolution bump is something that is very different because it throws off all those apps that developers made last 10 months. The resolution change on iPad is not happening anytime soon. It took apple 3 years to change the resolution on iPhone. I expect iPad display to change in iPad 4.

I still see loads of opinionated posts in other threads claiming to be sure of the iPad 2's screen. Post in this thread and set your claims down for good.

Can't imagine or second guess Apple, their choices can be baffling. That said it will probably be just fine.

If not I'll look at the Android offerings, it would be fun to have full working access to all web sites.

Unlike many, I'm not fearful of flash. No fear at all. It's quite useful in fact.

I hope you're kidding.

Me? I guess, 1024x768 or 1024x300

Why? What's so out there with my prediction? A 1920x1240 resolution would allow the iPad to show 1080p natively (1920x1080), they can market the first hd display, or higher than hd display on a portable device, it won't be as expensive or power hungry than a full retina display that size, and brings assimetry to the iOS line (iPhone 2g, 3G, 3GS = 1x, iPhone 4 = 2x, iPad 2 = 4x) the odd man out will be be the first gen iPad, but apple has never been one to shy away from leaving early adopters in the dust as they move a product line forward.

It's either going to stay where it's at, or it's going to double.

With the graphics files found, the new screen parts shown, and the rumors of dual core cpu and gpu...

I'm starting to lean towards a resolution increase.

BUT, logic/cynicism in me says they will wait a generation.

Answer: Hell if I know. :D

Head - 1024x768
Heart - 2048x1536 (imagine Maps on that beast!)

Update: I'd like to add a prediction for two different screen options at two different prices (normal 1024x768 and Retina 2048x1536)

Keep it comin' guys, the more people that voice their opinion the better example we'll have after the iPad 2 is announced of how right, or wrong most of us are.

No matter what their competitors do apple is not triggered they have a confidence that their product would always be consumers favorite. As for the iPad 2 I really have no idea what resolution steve jobs might be thinking i was just hoping for the camera.

Double resolution because it would be awesome, and it's about time Apple did something really awesome to blow us away.

1024x768.

Dual-core ARM9
Single-core SGX543
512MB DRAM
Front and rear facing cameras
NFC

Everything else pretty much the same.

Credibility: lost.

The rumors centered around this configuration is the most realistic. The rumors further explain the camera to be 1MP, like the iPod touch. Personally, I have not noticed a need for 512MB of ram, and performance is great on my fairly new iPad. My point is that for those that opted to buy now instead of waiting a couple of months, they'll not really miss out on features.

This. Maybe the screen will be slightly smaller so the dpi goes up. 9.2" instead of 9.7 or something.

I've said 2048x1536 from the get go :) Tis' all it can be if not normal.
