... How is it that every single release is accompanied by widespread reports like this one, yet every single one (save antennagate and a few others) is forgotten almost immediately?

If it is actually defective, even in the smallest slightest way, Apple will make it right. That's what they do.

Yeah, that's what they do. Do you work for Apple?

I am just thinking about the MBA-screen-lines issue. Every MBA I have seen had it, no matter if in UK, Austria, USA, Canada or Germany, including one I ordered and brought back. And it wasn't easy to return, as they tried to convince me in the apple store, that it is not that bad and if I only work with graphics from time to time it would not be a problem. Apple never admitted the lines on the screen...

People who think their iPad2 is not affected should try to open a dark blue image (like jamesarm97).

Ohh and don't say haters gonna hate. I have an iPod Touch, iPad1 and other stuff which works just fine. But sometimes apple just screws it up.

BTW: I hope as well that the issues with the backlight/glue/whatever will get away within some days.

It's a backlighting issue. My LED TV has the same problem, looks very similar to the above picture.

Both my new iPad and my wife's also has the same problem. Seems to be pretty widespread.

Let's hope that if your wife has a backlighting problem it is not widespread.
Sure can't be pretty!

iPad 2 day 2, the black model has already cleared up about 50% of the yellow issue.

This will probably be a non-issue for people ordering online. It will have time to dry by the time it reaches your door next week.

It's not really a big issue for me I know what it is and I know it will go away. If it doesn't Apple makes getting a replacement easy. No real reason to stress about this. I'm just posting what I see so people will know it is a common problem.

SJ is ill...do you Really think he is being bothered by his underlings at this point?

Lol...arguing over what the CEO is doing with his recovery time...only :apple: fankids :p

I bet he's sprinkling gold flakes on his cheerio's and wiping his ass with hundred dollar bills.

There's no reason for the glue to still be wet it should of dried a long time ago. If it isn't dry now it probably wont completely dry for a long time if ever. Apple needs to stop using so much damn glue in their devices. The Motorola Atrix and Xoom are good examples of how a device should be assembled with a minimal amount of glue. It makes for a stronger device and easier repairs. I'm not saying those devices are better because they aren't, atleast the Xoom isn't, but they're definately constructed better.

Adds character. ;)

A good gash to the side of a brand new car is also going to add character and a story behind it. No thanks. I'll wait a few weeks and make sure there are no other issues before I buy my iPad 2.

I guess it would be a pretty massive pain in the butt to turn a million iPads on for a couple days prior to shipping them. Just seems odd that this is even an issue, given how much Apple tries to make things perfect.

Not again..

I bought a iMac and returned 3 of them... all of them had the yellow pee.
In the end i returned it and bought a Macbook Pro.
Now i wanted to buy a iPad2 and seeing this disturbing message...
I'll hope not to be ending in the same switching train...

I have had my iPad 2 from launch and I still have tons of yellow splotches on all sides of the iPad. How long should it take to go away? Its not light leak either. (I have that where everyone does, just to the right of the home screen.) That isn't as annoying as the yellow tint to everything.

Wait it out or try to bring it in?

People are saying theirs have cleared up after several days. I have no improvement what so ever.

Waited for my iPad 2 for 4 hrs and its awesome. The cameras are not as great as I expected but good (they looked better in the apple store). But over all very pleased.

Hey Doc, I think the camera works best for video, and that was Apples primary intent for FaceTime. Stills are not so good. But most people have much better camera on their phones, better yet, cameras for taking great stills. Lens and software Technology is quite different in video vs still.
