following getting a larger screened phone, and the ever increasing lagginess of ios8, i'm admittedly not using my iPad 3 all that much. but its still on, getting lightly used every now and then.

it occurred to me i hadn't charged it in quite some time so i took a look at the usage, and wow! its bonkers how long this thing lasts, even in standby mode, and it appears to not even be close to being done!

i'm wondering if the one inadvertent benefit to the 'imbalance' of the 3 is that they had to beef up the battery for the display, even though the processor was still previous gen, so the standby time is phenomenal!

That's "time since last full charge", so it's not reset if you just top it up a bit. The ipad3 charges so slowly I find that I quite often plug it in for a while and when I go back for it it's nowhere near 100% charge.

It does not show the message "iPad has been plugged in since last full charge" if that's your implication. iPad does take a while to charge but normally I do it overnight.

I've had my iPad 3 in standby 2 months or more and picked it up with some battery left. It is impressive.

It did have a massive battery. It charges so slow compared to iPad Air 2.

I had original launch day ipad 3 for 30 plus months (2.5 years) and battery life was still outstanding.

Still able to get a full 9 hours of real time usage after all that time.

Just resold it last month though.

I never use my school issued iPad since pretty much everything is taken off of it (messages, App Store, etc) and I have my own anyway, so yeah.

After playing several hours of games on the family Ipad Mini 1, the battery only went from 100% to 59%, so not too shabby there either. I recall my IpT5 would've gone down roughly the same amount.

the battery life on that iPad 3 always continues to surprise me. I love that i don't have to worry about charging it for weeks and then when i do i always just plug it in before bed and its ready to go back at it again when i wake up. It sounds silly but its a nice change compared to having to constantly charge my other devices. I know iPad 3 gets more flack but it continues to work well for me
