iPad 3 images in smithsonian app?

I'm new here, but I downloaded the smithsonian app for iPad, and I looked at the contents in ifile and found many 2048x1536 photos. Would this suggest a retina display, and could it be one of the apps demoed at the event next week?

Quite a lot of savvy developers have already put retina-display artwork into their iPad apps, this is probably just another of them.
