iPad 3 iOS 8 GM Handoff?

Has anyone with an iPad 3 been able to get handoff working? The options in Settings->General don't show up, and it doesn't seem to show the icon on the lock screen when typing an email on my iPhone.


Any tricks? I tried restoring, reset all settings, etc.

On Apple website, they say continuity is available from iPad4 and iPad Mini.
iPad 2 and 3 doesnt' support it 🙁

Not supported on the iPad 3, only the iPad 4 and up. No tips or tricks to be had other than replacing the iPad.

Interesting, I know I saw some of that stuff working through part of the beta... That is pretty lame that it doesn't work...

I would have assumed this was down to the Bluetooth chip in the iPad 3 but it seems to be BT4.0 just like the others. Curious.

Requires the fancy wifi chip as well, it didn't have Airdrop either.

That's pretty disappointing actually. I should have never bought this iPad 3. Especially if I would have known the iPad 4 was coming out 6 months later...

Except continuity, how does iOS8 work on iPad3 ?
Is it fast and smooth compared to iOS 7.1 ?

Does SMS relay work? I'm really confused about the Phone and SMS relay on the 2 and 3. Some say it works, some don't.

iOS 8 seems to work fairly well on it. I haven't had any issues. Seems just as fast as iOS 7 was. Other than this being the worst iPad in existence...

SMS Relay and calling works well. I did both last night.

Handoff works for me with my iPad 3. I have an iPhone 5, and text messages and calls are forwarded to my iPad 3.

That isn't handoff. That is continuity. Handoff is starting an email on your iPhone and finishing it on the iPad.

Phone Calls work for me

I have an iPad 3 wifi & it is relaying phone calls from iPhone 5C just fine.
Handoff settings are not present though.
