Come on folks this is getting silly.

I own an ipad 3 and apart from the lag between letters and numbers I have not had any issues. This device is a year old, sure not old by any standards but not brand new either the software is BRAND NEW! Why would we expect no lag? This nonsense about wall papers!?! Seriously how often do you all change wall papers? For me this is about every few months at best! I think its absurd you are all moaning about something so abstract!

Because it's not just simple tiny input lag when you change wallpaper it becomes completely unresponsive for a good 15 or so seconds, I'd expect something like that from a garbage $90 tablet from Walgreens not from the iPad 3 and especially not from the still beastly iPad 4. Apple has been marketing the hell out of the parallax and dynamic wallpapers so yeah there is a good chance everyone is going to want to try changing them after they install this update on their iPads and think they just broke something.

It is ludicrous to expect lag on a device that is a year old... I have an iPad 3 and this is not a cheap device by any means. If anything, it cost more than a lot of PC laptops and netbooks. I've installed Jellybean on the original Galaxy S (iPhone 4 equivalent, likely even worse) and it runs smooth... No where dear the amount of lag that I'm seeing in newer apple devices.

Should we just lie down every year and cough up another thousand dollars so we can do simple tasks like typing? Such a shame that we would have such high standards such as sending an email or taking down a few notes.

I expect his from android after several years but not from apple after just a year.

Another Lag on changing wallapers

My ipad3 lags horribly. I have up trying to scale my photo for a wallpaper and loaded an ipad friendly resolution one. I have none of the other issues others have spoken about though I do wish I had the blur, transparent folders, and transparent "bar" at the bottom. Because of these (what I read were removed from the GM but present in some betas) it looked nasty with my original wall paper so I had to change.

^This. If I wanted a tablet that lagged, I would've gotten a cheap Android tablet. I would expect the iPad 2 to lag a bit but not the iPad 3. Instead, iPad 2 and mini owners are having less problems with iOS 7 than iPad 3 owners. The 3rd generation iPad was supposed to be the latest iPad if Apple didn't decide to release another one only after 6 months so no, it shouldn't lag that much.

iPad 3 owners (and some iPad 4 owners) are reporting considerable lag when changing Wallpapers under iOS 7.

If you've got an iPad 3 or iPad 4, try it! Go to Settings/Wallpapers & Brightness and then go through the steps to select and confirm different Wallpaper for BOTH the Lock Screen and the Home Screen. Enjoy the incredible lag feeling of it all. If you have "Reduce Motion" turned off (the default in Settings/General/Accessibility), it will be particularly bad. At times, it will feel like your iPad has locked up. Particularly when you touch the white text "Set Lock Screen" or "Set Home Screen". Sssssllllllloooooowwwwwwer than hell!

And there's a general feeling of lag in many other areas too. Particularly while typing. The automatic switches back to the letters group from the numbers group (such as when you touch an apostrophe in a word) is one example. A delay that feels like a disconnect from the device.

My iPad now feels like an Android tablet! <sigh>

Mark

I have a iPad mini which has the internal components of a iPad 2 and it's just fine on iOS 7 even with parallax on. Try rebooting your iPad?

iOS 7.0.3

Did anyone notice an improvement when updating to 7.0.3 with the wallpaper lag?

I was able to go back to iOS 6 just before Apple stopped signing it, so I'm just on standby.
