iPad 3 RAM 1GB vs 512MB?!

Why go to town upping major specs and gimp the ram? That is unless Apple are adament that IOS 5.1, 6.x and possibly 7.x wont require more than 512MB. Thats a tall order right there.

iPad 3 WILL be both quad core and have 1GB ram. And it will have SKU of 32GB & 64GB. Mark my words.

Based on the current market competition, it would be stupid of Apple to keep the iPad 3's RAM limited at 512 MB. Both PlayBook and Galaxy Tab 10.1 have 1GB RAM.

How much RAM are you expecting to see in the iPad 3? 512 MB or 1GB?

Playbook and Galaxy Tab runs a different OS than the iPad. On the tablets you mentioned they run android which is a little more resource hog, while the iPad runs on iOS which uses a lot less resource to produce the most responsiveness.

Should Apple put in 1GB? ABSOLUTELY, on a consumer stand point, we love nothing more than higher specs which usually leads to higher performance and less needing to upgrade.

Will Apple put 1GB? HIGHLY unlikely(not to say that they won't). At this present time, the iPad 2 still outperform most android and windows tablets despite the iPad's lower specs. This alone is enough reason Apple needs to use less ram. This will keep the cost down, battery life up and continual superb performance.

How is it highly unlikely? Probably wont cost apple more than $10. I have to say IOS started well but has become a vampire of of OS sucking out the limited ram and life of older IOS devices. Why is 1GB too much to ask for?

You do not need more RAM. Just stay away from using multi-tab web browsing

Done... no quad core and 16Gb SKU is still around but sounds like 1Gb ram is probably in there (have to wait for teardowns to be 100% sure).

We know as a fact that it has more than 512MB. During the press conference, the president of Epic Games said that the iPad 3 has more RAM than the XBox 360. XBox 360 has 512MB RAM.
