Anyone else have OpenCL pop into their head during the keynote?

When I head about the 4 graphics cores, that will remain mostly idle for me, I thought OpenCL.

Everyone likes speed and using GPUs to kick it up seem pretty nice to me.

Thoughts?

Definitely OpenCL.

A quick Google search yielded this: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5607/the-portland-group-announces-opencl-compiler-for-stericsson-armbased-novathor-socs

Not sure why the 6 series GPUs are needed but the actual ARM cores could be utilized now, with an iOS update.

Apple tried to spear-head OpenCL with OSX and I gotta be honest, I was not impressed. I could bench it and it was great if certain software could utilize it but it just wasn't/isn't there.

For these iOS devices, I think squeezing performance out of every nm is wise.

If the GPU cores were used, the battery life wouldn't be impacted a whole lot and the performance yield might be worth it.

Just late night thinking. This will probably look different to me in the morning 🙄
