I recently bought what I thought was the iPad 3 Wifi and when I got home I realized they gave me the AT&T version. Is there any disadvantage in having this version if I never plan on using the AT&T Data?

10 grams and $130

There's no downside to owning the AT&T version of the New iPad over the WiFi only version. As long as you keep cellular data turned off, battery life and performance are identical. The AT&T version is 10 grams heavier, but the resale value is increased.

Nice! No contract! You could just sell it for more than you bought it for then get a wifi version, too.

The wifi only version also does not have GPS. Maybe you could benefit with that feature and still not use cellular data

Nice deal 😉 Just make sure to disable cellular data if it's not already disabled without a SIM-card
