iOS 7 has a YouTube app too.

As we pointed out we both prefer the built in default Youtube app in iOS 5. I like the fact I can save my favorites without having to setup a Youtube channel account when using the Google Youtube app. I also prefer the UI of the iOS 5 Youtube app over the updated YT app in the App Store.

They never said that, they might think iOS 7 doesn't have a YouTube app as it was removed in iOS 6. Or maybe they just want to be able to play music when the app is closed, which you can do in Safari.

At this point, go for it. I have my iPad 3rd Gen on iOS 7.1.2 and it runs wonderfully! I'll admit that iOS 7.0 on my iPad 3 was more problematic that when it was on 6.1.3. The same rings true for when it was on 6.0 v. 5.1.1. All at-launch OS updates have more bugs then on the last update of the previous OS generation. This is just how things work. So any rumors you had heard about the iPad 3 on iOS 7 have been resolved. Battery life is normal, performance is superb, stability is near perfect.

Yes, everything is perfect. Please continue to exaggerate and make people upgrade who'll regret it afterwards.

But that's not the real reason is it? You can JB an iPad 2 and iPad 3 and enable Blur with no performance hit. Apple discontinued the iPad 2 and iPad 3 and it wants people who like that feature to upgrade to either the iPad 4, Mini's or Air.
I can understand that..but isn't it really toooo small reason to buy a new iPad when everything works just fine???

And as for OP.. There is not much diff in speed and performance.. U wlbt even notice it... Just upgrade for a good thing that ull get many more features...

Oh, did you want me to say its scary and terrible, and everyone should boycott it? My experience is near perfect, and that's what the OP asked for, my experience on iOS 7 with an iPad 3.

The only reason to keep ios 5 would be if you were a developer and needed it for testing. Most current apps don't support 5. If you don't update to 7 you will be forced to 8 in a month or so. The ipad 3 will be a lot faster and better on ios 7. It's by far there best os. I've been running an ipad 3 with ios 7 since beta versions and it works fantastic. I'm about to update to ios 8. The ipad 3 is the cut off for ios 8 support. So it's still a very capable machine. But ios 5 is rubbish compared to anything greater than 5. Nobody writes apps for 5 these days because there were such major changes to the os in 6 that it's not worth it for the few percent of people who still run this legacy os. Ios 7 is a brilliant os.

The iPad 3 isn't the cutoff, the iPad 2 is.
