I have an iPad 4 cellular 16gb on iOS 6 and just wondering if it would be a good time to sell it and upgrade to the Air 2, the iPad is still on the old firmware but I'm running most of my apps on old versions and new games require iOS 7+ but if I were to upgrade to iOS 9 on my 4 I would want to upgrade to the air, because my iPad is on iOS 6 it would probably sell for more money becuase it's probably classed as 'Rare' nowadays so is it a good time to upgrade, would it be worth it and is there any major upgrades/differences?

Before you sell your iPad 4 you'll obviously want to perform a factory reset to clear your data. I'm not absolutely certain, but upon the new owner activating it, won't it upgrade to the latest OS automatically? If so, the fact that it's on iOS 6 will be a moot point.

I just sold my iPhone 5 today with iOS 6. I didn't think I got too much more for it than I would've for one with the latest firmware. But you can do a reset from the phone that wouldn't require you to update the firmware. Relating to your dilema, if it's the games you're wanting, I would say upgrade to the air2 for the hardware improvements.

IPad4 on ios6 is not rare LOL...if you want to sell and get Air2, better do it sooner than later. There's lots of older iPads to be had out there...hardly a seller's market.

If anything, Air1 128gb on ios7 would be arguably be the most desirable of the older models.
