Gotta wonder what will be the tipping point and when will it come?

Probably when people stop paying for the data plans. They charge what they do because people will pay it. Why charge $10 for something if you know you can get $20?

The lack of a base 1GB or 500MB option on VZW is obnoxious to me -- VZW's website on tablet prices states a 1GB option for $20 vs AT&T's 250MB for $15 ... guess the iPad isn't considered a "tablet" to them.

The speed at which you're downloading doesn't change the amount you're downloading...this statement is ignorant.

Interesting to see a $10 increase in price for Verizon

Ok, so I download and purchase a couple movies from iTunes (maybe downloading on another device using the hotspot feature to get around cellular data limits). Cap used in 15 minutes. How is my statement ignorant?

Did anybody see the tech specs page?

http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

The Verizon model includes ALL of the frequencies on the AT&T model, and adds CDMA.

This is ridiculous, I don't see any technical reason why they couldn't have just one LTE (and 3G) model to support both carriers without having to choose at purchase time and having it locked to only that carrier.

Edit: Apparently the AT&T model adds 2100 Mhz for LTE. Darn, I still think they should have made one model that can handle both.

So you don't want a tablet. You'd rather have a laptop with wi-fi. I hear they come in several sizes.
Did you even bother to read the post you quoted? Or did you simply paste-in a canned response without bothering to check what you were replying to?

How many movies can I download for the 3GB plan before reaching the $10 per GB overage charge?

Not very many. Maybe 1 from iTunes? I think with AT&T there aren't any overage charges. It just charges you another $30 and your one month 3GB plan restarts.

Which won't happen in todays ever growing internet/tablet world

AT&T and Verizon do this strictly for money yet cry about how much data is hurting them...oh, but they can handle the load if you pay more

If people are paying for it then they aren't overcharging. If someone is willing to pay X for something, you don't charge 1/2 of X.

Sounds great in theory of "Yeah for Capitalism" except many don't have options for their internet....such as myself.

I only have one internet provider in my area. I would love to go elsewhere but I can't....and internet at my house is a must due to the work that I do.

Considering how ISP's love to craft legislation and/or write the legislation to kill competition, there is no need to play stupid and act as if the price they set can't be considered over-charging

Do both AT&T and Verizon support wifi hotspot?

Have not seen this info anywhere as of yet...

Are At&t and Verizon 4G LTE speeds equal?

If you do not have 4G network where you are at.. does it automatically default down to 3g so you still have service?

I see people mentioning 4G will eat up your data usage faster? This doesn't make sense to me. If you are going to download 10 songs. It will use the same amount of data rather it is 3G or 4G, 4G will just do it quicker. Correct?

If I am browsing the web during my train ride to and from work and with 4G the web pages come up quicker, I will probably use more data because I will probably visit more web sites. That in and of itself should not cause you problems. As an example, I have an iPad 1 with unlimited data yet I have been using 1-2 GB/month on average.

Ah, now I see. Ya doubt that will effect my data usage as much. The first iPad I had was not used as a boredom tool... as in just killing time by visiting website.

I typically have a certain amount of work to get done, use the iPad to do it, and finish.

Just placed my order. Thanks for the response.

So Verizon must be loving that typo on Apple's website. Anybody looking at the plans will think they are comparable by price. Surely Verizon has better 4G LTE coverage, but many don't know that. If they were to see that AT&T gave you an extra GB for the same price they would likely choose AT&T.

Other thing of note: Verizon previously offered 1GB for $20 and 3GB for $35. This has changed quite a bit.

I sure hope that my $30 to Verizon will include the tethering option. The keynote presentation said "if your carrier supports it" or something to that effect. Have the carriers indicated whether or not they support it?

There seems to be no info yet as to which of the Verizon & AT&T plans, if any, include personal hotspot (aka tethering).

I contacted Apple, Verizon and AT&T and so far nobody seems to know yet. Would be good to get an official word on this.
