iPad 4G troubles

I just set up my ipad 4 but didn't activate my Verizon Internet service. I noticed the ipad reads 3G when I turned it on. Should it not read LTE or 4g? Is something wrong with it?
 
Do you have any other LTE enabled devices in your house? If so, do those read LTE? You may just be in an area that can't get an LTE signal.
