iPad iPad 5 generation will not rotate screen

The screen is not rotating. I reset all settings, backed up and reset to factory settings. Netflix will rotate the screen and nothing else does. The rotate button in control panel is not on. Any suggestions?

I am not sure what that would be. I completely erase and reset to factory settings. Isn’t that the same?

Not the same. Erase just deletes all your content and settings. The firmware/system files are untouched.

Think of iTunes firmware restore as something similar to a full Windows re-install.

If it still doesn't work after a firmware restore, then it's quite possibly a hardware issue in which case you're SOL.

My mini 6 started struggling with this here and there after the latest iOS 15 update. Could be a bug from that update.
