I have an iPad 5th gen. A1538. The home button on this device broke. (It was a cracked digitizer and the ribbon cable was torn from the button)
So I took the digitizer and home button/touch ID from another identical model (Ipad 5th Gen A1538) and attached it to the one I'm working on. Now all I get is (TouchID cannot be activated on this device)
Is there a way to get this home button/TouchID to work on this device even thou it wasn't registered with the motherboard? Thanks.

Why not swap the logic board too? Then the Touch ID/ home button will work.

Yes...that was my next option, providing the logic board is in working condition. Checking that now.

UPDATE: This worked out just fine!
