iPad iPad 6th Gen. (2018) getting hot while using Safari

Hi,

basically I'm happy with the iPad 6th Gen. (2018) – with one big exception: it gets hot on the back while using certain apps like Safari or Kindle. Annoyingly hot (using iPadOS 14.8). So I'm really thinking about getting a new iPad just because of the heat issue. Note: There are no apps in background who cause this, no update process or anything like that. I can replicate the heat issue by using Safari a couple of minutes (by opening a couple of websites). When I don't use the iPad after that for a minute or so it is cool again. Is that heat issue normal? Do other iPads have it too?

My iPhone SE (2020) stays rather cool, so I suspect the A10 Chip of the iPad.

Try to install an ad blocker.

Another vote for an ad blocker or alternatively an ad blocking browser maybe - some members of the forum had previously recommended the Brave browser app.

Already using an Adblocker. And it also gets hot with some non-browsing apps like Kindle anyway.

My iPhone 12 Pro gets hot on this site. Since I installed an ad blocker it stopped. Thanks iOS 15.

I had a heat issue with my Mini 5 before its update to 15.0 yesterday. No problems now.

Turn off unnecessary services in Settings, such as Location Services, Find my iPad, Siri, Background App Refresh, etc. Remove from the case (some retain heat). And of course a cold reboot. But it does sound like processor churning creating heat.

Turned off all this stuff – like I said it isn't a constant heat, but just when I open a couple of Websites in a row for example. Then the iPad heats up quickly to the point that it gets annoying. After a minute or so while doing nothing with the device it cools down.
