With the iPad Pro announced, and overpriced in my opinion based on the deficiencies in iOS, I am looking forward a more reasonably priced iPad.

I have tried the current 6th Gen iPad(Black friday deals @ $250), but am not a fan of the screens since when you tap/press it, the feeling is not as solid as the iPad Pro(Bestbuy open box buys @ $400).
  • Do you think Apple will update the standard iPad in early 2019?
  • Will all future iPads use USB-C?
  • What areas will they improve?
  • Will it support the standard A12 SoC?

Any other thoughts? Curious of everyone's opinions.

I don't feel they're in a rush to update the 6th gen. It already ticks the boxes for the market they're aiming for.

In 2019, everything Apple will be USB-C

I don’t think it will see many updates next year (if any). Perhaps just an update to an A11 to be released alongside a new iPad Mini. Also possible that it won’t see an update at all in 2019 since as frou mentioned it already ticks all the boxes in the budget market.

I don’t anticipate Apple updating the entry level iPads for some time. Maybe not for a couple of years. Look at Apple’s track record on their other entry level devices (MB Air, Mac Mini, MB...). I would expect t see heavy discounts on the entry level iPad and the 10.5 iPad Pro this holiday season.

The iPad 2 was sold forever I think.
