My new iPad seems to have gone completely mad! At least 3-4 times a day while using an app such as safari, mail, setting, games etc. it seems to freeze but then the screen starts jumping around, zooming in and out, copying text, opening and closing the keyboard, while this is going on it is unresponsive to touch. Clicking the home button seems to stop this but as soon as it goes to the home screen it starts stuttering again with the screen shifting to the right then left until it opens the search screen and keyboard whereupon it freezes again.Resetting works for a while as does restoring, but then back to the crazy behaviour.Yesterday i reached the end of my tether when while on settings it actually set up a lock code all by itself and I couldn't stop it. Restored with great difficulty once again. Many times this happens when I wake it from sleep and more or less 5 minutes into using an app. Any ideas anyone ? Has this happened to somebody else?:(
Would also add that using , say a google search or typing in words, after the stuttering/ freezing has happened , if I tap the 'u' or 'n' once they come out as double letters.

If you already tried restoring it, might be time to bring it in to an Apple location to have it exorcised as it's unfortunately been possessed or at least have it exchanged since you mentioned it's new. It hasn't been jb'ed right?

Thank you for a quick response...No, it hasn't been jailbroken, But i did save the ECID ...just in case! It certainly seems to be posessed as you hint. Unfortunately in Italy Apple isn't too good about giving replacements for faulty goods, they usually send them to be repaired. I will do something about this tomorrow when the Apple store and call center open.

I had the exact same problem. I took it into the Apple store and it stared up in front of the genius. They swamped it out immediately. Take it back because before you drive yourself crazy. I tried everything from multiple restores, backups, etc. It always returned.

Yeah sounds like it's registering inputs where there are none, causing it to "freeze." I'd read of this happening a few times. Exchange it at an Apple Store, for sure.

Well I also tried to do a DFU restore but to no avail...it gets stuck at error 1601 on all the 4 computers that I have tried on. Including Win XP, Vista, Mac OSX and SL. I have given up and have just been on the phone to apple support. Tomorrow I am going back to the store with it, so we will see what happens..........

This post was quite old but my iPad is doing this very same thing now. It is a few years old so I don't think they will swap it out. Any suggestions on how to fix this jumping around and the keyboard becomes unresponsive?
