iPad activation in-store?

I'm aiming to get an iPad next month in the States when I'm on vacation - but I wanted to know if I'll be able to get the thing activated in-store?

I bought an iPod Touch about two years ago, and the guy did this for me, so I could use the web and email until I got home to properly sync it to my iTunes account. However, I want to be able to use iTunes to buy/download apps and books before I go back home (I'm away for three weeks).

Will this be possible?

It should work but note that a few apps are US only and may not function. I think ABC's app will stop working when you get home--but try it and see.
