iPad iPad Activation Lock Problem

I have an iPad 2 that I use as an eReader. I went to open last night and the Hello slide to start up was on. I slid and the Activation Lock was up says its linked to an Apple ID. I don't have an Apple ID. I have an iPad that is provided by my employer along with an iPhone. Neither of those is a problem. Is there a way around this? I really don't want to lose all of my books that I have on my iPad. Thanks for any help.

Get your employers I.T department to enter the password. There is no way around it
