As skyQ app via Ios/iphone is sometime away with no information on when it's to be released.

I since thought maybe a inexpensive iPad would suffice to watch t.v. in bedroom.

SkyQ app works iOS 8.1 though reported to be running best via 8.3 and above.

Which iPads are capable of running iOS 8.3 and above.

I appreciate there's loads of iPads these days.

Cost would be a consideration, no latest pro models, maybe an earlier iPad model?

To add I've since been talking via e-chat to mobile provider

Since been offered a IPad air, (9.7. screen 16gb ram)

Advised this is pre installed with iOS 7-though can upgrade to 9.3.2?

This was from last year, when iOS 9 was announced. Since then, newer devices have been introduced, such as the mini 4 and the iPad Pros, which of course came with iOS 9.

So yes, an iPad Air can be upgraded to the latest version of iOS 9. You can no longer install iOS 8, because Apple does not allow it.

Excellent advice Night Spring.

I've have a look at the chart, thanks.

I've since got confirmation from Sky Q app users, who have been running IPad air with Sky Q app -no probs at all.

Have not yet commited to a new 2 year contract, though my existing iPhone 6 contract expires Sept.

Thanks for your advice very much appreciated

Since returned to mobile provider.

iPad Air delivered tomorrow evening.

The original Air seems like a good buy for your needs.

Thanks Skika

I think the IPad Air will be much lighter whilst watching t.v. in bedroom (have used macbook pro a few times which is fantastic though a little heavy weight wise for bed at night.

Looking forward to IPad air, maybe it will require iOS update from 7 to 9 -time will tell until tomorrow.

Are iPad devices safe for secure sites such as online banking etc.

(I use autofill debit card details etc via macbook-autofill used to work via iPhone 6-not sure why it stopped working)

I like being able to make purchase via retailer links with autofill enabled -maybe iPhone 6/ios never had that feature?

Thanks Seika

Air arrived today, I've stuck the sim card accidentally, though I don't have any use other than wifi.

Sky q app working flawlessly, all my t.v. recordings instantly available via Q app/ipad Air.

9.7 screen excellent for t.v. viewing.

Will try a little 'fiuid' viewing later i.e. pause t.v. in main viewing room ,continue from where I left off via iPad Air.

I got the 9.3.2 upgrade option almost immediately, connected to wifi home network-a few mins and I was up and running.

Is there a simple reset function for my Air, I used my existing Apple account details including credit card info etc.

I think I maybe best to do a factory reset?

My Air is being returned tomorrow and replaced early next week.

Unfortunately I think the wrong sim was sent which resulted in the sim being stuck

You've been very helpful Sika.

ETA -store approx 60 mins.

I'll try the reset as you suggested.

Have been enjoying Sky News via Q app/ipad air i.e. t.v. in bedroom.

Noticed the battery lasts ages-much less power used compared to mcbpro.

What a lovely 9.7 screen.

1 week without my luxury Air device.

Brand new Air picked from O2 store this morning.

9.3.2 update, a few Apple i.d. resets, all working flawlessly including this year 'best tech app award-Sky Q -t.v recordings instantly available to view and setup new recordings via iPad Air.

My sim was kindly inserted with the lovely store assistant who mentioned the 'nano sim' needs to be cut from the full size sim.

Maybe it was my error last week, who knows :)
